Attachoment A Q16 JA XP iVDJ1 URE FORM 2016- fDJ -BX -0746 <br />Grantee: City of Garden Grove <br />The grantee proposes to use the 2016Jostice Assistance Grant Program toning as follomr <br />JAG funds may be used for state and local initiatives, technical assistance, strategic planning, <br />research and evaluation (including forensics), data collection, training, personnel, equipment, forensic <br />laboratories, supplies, contractual support, and criminal justice Information systems that will Improveor <br />enhance such areas as: <br />Corrections and community corrections programs. <br />PROjg9;T NARRATIVE <br />The Police Department will use 2016 JAG funds to pay a portion of its jail services contract. The <br />first contract was put into place in 2000, and has saved the Department tens of thousands ofman- hours, <br />What was previously at least a two -hour process for the arresting officer now takes only 15 minutes, <br />allowing the officer to return to patrolling the streets. The jail services contract is an indispensable <br />component of Department operations and is keyto maximizing officer's time spent out in the community. <br />PRQ ECT99ALS <br />The Department's goat for utilizing a jail services contract Is to create operational efficiencies and Increase <br />time patrol officer's time spent "on the streets," The time saved is equal to the productive hours of more <br />than six patrol officers, and this time can be used to augment patrol operations. <br />PROJECT STRATEGIES <br />Contracting out jail services allows the Police Department to concentrate much more of Its efforts on <br />community safety rather than expending energy and resources ohjall operations. Prior to the contract, <br />officers would spend approximately two hours processing and transporting an arrestee.
