Current Deployment-7 Officers to provide safety and security in the Civic <br />Center from Sunday through Friday between 5:30am and 10:30pm. Duties <br />include enforcement of quality of life issues which may include any and all <br />violations of the Santa Ana Municipal Code or California State Law. Officers <br />also outreach to the homeless through the H.E.A.R.T. Program. <br />Proposed Enhanced Services <br />The additional 7 officers would be dedicated to the Civic Center on a <br /> <br />24/7 coverage for 120 days.Additionally the Orange County Probation <br />Department has allocated 2 probation officers to be assigned to the <br />Civic Center and co-located with our Civic Center officers. The increase <br />police presence will result in the following: <br />◦Increased police presence to include 24 hours a day and 7 days a week for 120 days <br />◦Increased enforcement of Municipal and State laws including but not limited to <br />quality of life issues such as camping, excessive property storage, urinating and <br />defecating in public; <br />◦Improve monitoring of weekend activities which often increases the homeless <br />population. <br />◦Increase the monitoring of offenders on probation <br />◦Increase outreach through the HEART program to 20-30 hours per week from 10-20 <br />hours. <br />3 <br /> <br />
