•M <br />w: <br />CITY MANAGER'S COMMENTS <br />• City Manager Cavazos, reported that City of Santa Ana has been <br />awarded COPS Grants for 3 d year in a row; total received is $3.75 <br />million and only 1 of 11 cities nationwide to receive funds three years <br />in a row. <br />CITY COLINCILMEMBER COMMENTS <br />Mayor Pro Tem Sarmiento: <br />• Recognized staff for receiving COPS Grant funds; <br />• American Planning Association has designated City of Santa Ana as <br />having top downtown; thanked staff and Commissioner Elisandro <br />Orozco for efforts and submittal; October 20th will be celebration; <br />• Thanked staff for ribbon cutting of Memory Lane Park; <br />• Acknowledged staff for efforts on all projects, including Public Works <br />and Parks and Recreation. <br />Councilmember Amezcua: <br />Appreciated presentation by Parks and Recreation. <br />Councilmember Reyna: <br />• Continue to conserve water; noted purple pipes are for recycled water; <br />• Thanked Parks and Recreation for accomplishments - $22 million <br />dollar worth of improvements; <br />• Shop Santa Ana; and <br />• Be safe this coming Halloween. <br />Councilmember Benavides: <br />• Pleased with WorkStudy Session; good investment in our community — <br />playgrounds and youth will be able to enjoy our parks; <br />• Staff to consider creative ideas to invest in future generations of our <br />vacant parcels; <br />• Surplus funds have realized many benefits including public safety; <br />• Community Development Block Grant funds will be used for <br />improvements along Bristol Street; and <br />• Support local economy and shop in Santa Ana. <br />Mayor Pulido: <br />• Noted for the record that he can validate Mayor Pro Tem Sarmiento's <br />residency; and <br />• Adjourned meeting in memory of Ann Gallegos; reflected on her <br />service with the Police Department. <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 20 OCTOBER 4, 2016 <br />1 OA -20 <br />
