pact of dozens of special events and arts openings happening on the first Saturday of <br />the month. <br />That being said Downtown Inc. is Artwalk's primary facilitator and we view First <br />Saturday Artwalk as a critical arts and culture engine for downtown that we support with <br />approximately $15- 20,000 or 15 -20% of our annual budget, plus additional resources <br />we've leveraged including the City of Santa Ana arts grant we received last year. <br />Type of Application:: <br />Organization is based in Santa Ana and proposes to use grant funds to provide arts and <br />culture programming in Santa Ana <br />Need:: <br />$10000 <br />I am applying for:: <br />Special Events <br />If other please state below:: <br />n/a <br />Organization Mission and History: <br />The mission of Downtown Incorporated is to facilitate the enhancement of Downtown <br />Santa Ana as a vibrant shopping, entertainment, business and arts /cultural destination <br />for all. <br />Downtown Inc. was formed in 2013 as a non - profit organization organized to help <br />manage a portion of the Downtown Santa Ana improvement district dollars <br />(approximately $100,000 per year). Though we formed in 2013, we inherited the files <br />and some programming of the former property -based improvement district before with <br />the same name that dates back to 2009. <br />Included in that programming was the management of Artwalk. Artwalk continued to be <br />managed by the same Downtown Inc. staff, Jose Romo, Claudia Lavini and Wendy <br />Boelter, who were hired as independent contractors. <br />In 2014, Downtown Inc. hired Lead Consultant, Ryan Smolar, who set forth a series of <br />organizational and strategic changes to further connect Downtown Inc. to the <br />community and to empower the various arts and cultural elements making downtown < <br />cultural destination. <br />In 2015, a new Artwalk management team was formed under Smolar including: <br />" Artwalk Coordinator, Yenny Bernal, a local artists who was the gallery co- coordinator <br />for Downtown's Avant Garden Gallery and a regular arts instructor at the Bowers <br />Museum, Latino Health Access and Orange County Therapeutic Arts Center <br />
