Orange County Slingshot Initiative Funds For Program Year 2016-2017 <br />November 15, 2016 <br />Page 2 <br />with the input of local WDBs and stakeholders the strategy will also work toward alignment of <br />regional training policies and practices. The strategy will focus on developing programs for <br />targeted populations and communities including pre -identified Employment Zones. The <br />Employment Zones will be regional and defined by the location of economic activity, such as <br />labor sheds, commute patterns, industry clusters and sectors. Once the strategy is completed, <br />WDB will implement the regional plan. The Slingshot Initiative is designed to undertake <br />employment issues by fostering system change. The expectation is for the development of an <br />action plan that addresses specific regional challenges. <br />This project also supports one of the key objectives found in the Santa Ana Economic <br />Development Strategic Plan to create new opportunity for business and job growth and <br />encourage private development. <br />Indirect and overhead costs are eligible for reimbursement under this federal grant. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT <br />Approval of these items assists the City in meeting Goal #2 - Youth, Education, Recreation, <br />Objective #4 (Partner with groups and organization to promote education, senior services, job <br />training and development for all Santa Ana residents). <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />Approval of the appropriation adjustment will recognize $500,000 in the Orange County <br />Slingshot Initiatives Grant revenue account (no. 12418002-52001) and appropriate same to the <br />expenditure account (nos. 12418750 -various) for anticipated expenditure in the following fiscal <br />years: <br />Account Projected Expenditure in Amount <br />12418750 -various FY 2016-17 $160,000 <br />12418750-69011 FY 2017-18 $340,000 <br />Total $500,000 <br />APPROVED AS TO FUNDS AND ACCOUNTS: <br />Rober C.
