REQUEST R <br />Historic Resources Cornimisslon Action <br />*CTOBER . 2016 <br />TITLE <br />HISTORIC PROPERTY PRESERVATION <br />AGREEMENT NO. 2016-04 FOR PROPERTY <br />LOCATED AT 1816 NORTH HELIOTROPE DRIVE <br />(STRATEGIC PLAN NOS. 5,2; 5,3) <br />Prepared by _Ha�SobOleske <br />HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMISSION SECRETARY <br />APPROVED <br />❑ As Recommended <br />IJ As Amended <br />❑ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />PlanAna' <br />Recommend that the City Council authorize the City Manager and Clerk of the Council to execute <br />the attached Mills Act agreement with Herlihy Trust, subject to non -substantive changes approved <br />by the City Manager and City Attorney. <br />Reguest of Applicant <br />Herlihy Trust is requesting approval of a Historic Property Preservation Agreement for an existing <br />residence located at 1816 North Heliotrope Drive to the Santa Ana Register of Historical Properties. <br />Proiect Location and Site Description <br />The subject property consists of a 2,822 -square -foot, single -story Spanish Colonial Revival style <br />residence and detached garage on an 11,935 -square -foot residential lot (Exhibit 1). <br />Analysis of the Issues <br />Historical Listing <br />In March 1999, the City Council approved Ordinance No. NS -2363 establishing the Historic <br />Resources Commission and the Santa Ana Register of Historical Properties. The Historic <br />Resources Commission may, by resolution and at a noticed public hearing, designate as a historical <br />property any building or part thereof, object, structure, or site having importance to the history or <br />architecture of the city in accordance with the criteria set forth in Section 30-2 of the Santa Ana <br />Municipal Code (SAMC). This project entails applying the selection criteria established in <br />Chapter 30 of the Santa Ana Municipal Code (Places of Historical and Architectural Significance) to <br />determine if this structure is eligible for historic designation to the Santa Ana Register of Historical <br />Properties. The first criterion for selection requires that the structures be 50 or more years old. <br />The structure was designated to the Santa Ana Register of Historical Properties in January 2003 <br />and was categorized as Landmark as the Hillis House (Exhibit 2). <br />EXHIBIT B1 <br />25F-17 <br />
