(AMCAL) is writing to express our support of the Community Land
Trust (CLT) initiative proposed by THRIVE Santa Ana and Santa Ana Building Healthy
Communities (SABHC). We are familiar with the Land Trust model and the many benefits itcan
bring to a community. Most recently, ANICAL partnered with the City of Irvine and the Irvine
Community Land Trust (an independent non-profit organization) to create Alegre Apartments —;an
families and special needs resi
Community Land Trust under
kind in Orange County.
— first of its
Affordable housing is one example of what can be accomplished using the CLT model to forri
creative public-private partnerships, and we believe it can bring similar benefits to the City of Santa
Ana. We understand the City of Santa Ana controls' approximately 90 vacant lots, including those
with the potential to address various community needs. We encourage the City of Santa Ana to
consider the CLT initiative as a strategy to tam vacant underutilized properties into long-term
community assets.
AMCAL has extensive experience in these types of public-private partnerships. We support this
initiative and thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Mario Turner,
Vice President of Development
AMCAL Multi -Housing, Inc.
