Annual Review and Appointment of Regional Board Representatives <br />December 20, 2016 <br />Page$ of 3 <br />A board member and alternate are appointed by the majority of the City Council for <br />each of the two (2) Authorities. <br />■ Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) District #16 <br />An association representing six (6) counties (Imperial, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, <br />San Bernardino and Ventura) that works to develop regional plans for transportation, <br />growth management, housing development, air quality and other issues of regional <br />significance. <br />A board member and alternate is appointed by the majority of the City Council. <br />■ Transportation Corridor Agencies (TCA) — Foothill/Eastern <br />Joint Powers Authority formed in 1986 to design, finance, construct and operate the <br />three Orange County toll roads. The Agency is in the process of merging all toll roads <br />under the direction of one board. <br />A board member and alternate are appointed by the majority of the City Council. <br />■ Orange County Vector Control: <br />The Orange County Vector Control Board is an independent special district dedicated <br />to controlling rats, mosquitoes, and other disease carrying and public health pests. <br />Activities also include surveillance of vectors and vector-borne diseases, public <br />education services and identification of public health pests. Each Trustee is appointed <br />by the city they represent to serve a two or four year term. <br />A board member and alternate is appointed by the majority of the City Council. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT <br />Approval of this item supports the City's efforts to meet Goal #5 - Community Health, <br />Livability, Engagement & Sustainability, Objective #1 (Establish a comprehensive community <br />engagement initiative to expand access to information and create opportunities for <br />stakeholders to play an active role in discussing public policy and setting priorities). <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />There is no fiscal impact associated with this action. <br />ate - <br />Maria D.
