• Jan Meslin, Director of CIVIC, adopt proposal as an ordinance and establish oversight <br />commission. <br />• Norma Cordero, Latino Health Access Advocate, spoke on behalf of domestic violence <br />victims, supports proposal to protect all rights. <br />• Tina Shull, reiterated 3 asks as proposed by other speakers. <br />• Leonel Velasquez, OCCOC, opposed to separating families. <br />• Mayre Tapia, in support of matter. <br />• Bryan Tapia, echoed comments from others heard earlier. <br />• Kimberly Gomez, urged all to oppose separating families. <br />• Cristina Castillo, mother of US Citizens, need to protect family — dignity and not fear. <br />• Crystal Gomez, supports family unity; stop contract with ICE. <br />• Reverand Lurs Alemm, supports action proposed; City cannot be ruled by fear. <br />• Marilyn Montano, city needs to take pro -active measures; supports termination of ICE <br />contract. <br />• Gaby Hernandez, expressed concern that some that some who have voiced opposition <br />have been target; need to change culture. <br />• Benjamin Vazquez, City needs to protect our families. <br />• Peter Katz, recounted historical accounts when groups were persecuted; supports <br />proposal. <br />Benavides, thanked speakers. <br />Mayor Pro Tern Sarmiento, indicated that he was made aware that not all members of the <br />public were informed of limited speaker time, thus allowed the following to comment on <br />Agenda Item 55G. <br />• Saul Ocampo, spoke in support of resolution. <br />• Debbie Pacheco, support district based elections. <br />• Adriana Cortes Luna, end all ties with ICE, City needs to prioritize families <br />• Teri Saydak, supports proposal. <br />• James Goebel, also echoed same sentiments expressed earlier. <br />• Sara Sorentino, supports sanctuary city designation. <br />• Francisco Pino, advocate of proposal. <br />• Edna Monroy, spoke in favor of resolution. <br />• Jose Morales, member of OC Immigrants United, urge all to consider adoption of an <br />ordinance and opposition to ICE contract. <br />• Gil Salmon, commend City Council for taking action and labeling Santa Ana a Sanctuary <br />City; fair treatment of all important - respect; also noted that all comments by members of <br />the community need to be considered and respected. <br />• Dylan Thompson (another resident spoke on his behalf), echoed comments by Gaby <br />Hernandez; City Council to have political courage and challenged all to find revenue <br />elsewhere and terminate the ICE contract. <br />BUSINESS CALENDAR ITEMS <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 17 DECEMBER 6, 2016 <br />
