The following spoke on the matter: <br />• Linda Linkering, member of CLUE, spoke in support of partnership. <br />• Luis Sarmiento, request consideration of vacant land on Lacy and Walnut <br />be considered. <br />• Joese Hernandez, OCCORD representative, supports matter, need to <br />include housing and allow for equitable wages. <br />• Apolonio Cortez, opined that it will improve community health and serve <br />area well. <br />• Isuri Ramos, representing Kennedy Commission, opined that proposal will <br />support families and increase affordable housing opportunities <br />• Michele Zuniga, UCI, spoke of recreational spaces and <br />• Alan Woe, noted that private investment is needed as reinvestment <br />• Esther Trinidad, Parques Verdes, requested support to allow them to have <br />livable wages; submitted petitions for consideration that have been signed <br />by 175 residents; <br />• Ugoshi Anabere Nicholson, attorney at the Public Law Center, represent <br />interest for the benefit of homeless <br />Councilmember Benavides, indicated that Development Committee has <br />reviewed item in depth; City evaluated all city -owned vacant properties <br />Councilmember Amezcua, supports matter. <br />Councilmember Reyna, indicated that in the past developers have obtained <br />land and benefits <br />Mayor Pro Tern Sarmiento, indicated that City Manager has received direction <br />to move forward; thanked staff for working with community; consider pocket <br />parks and small community land trust. <br />RECESSED THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING AT 9:53 P.M. TO THE HOUSING <br />AUTHORITY MEETING AND RECONVENED THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING AT 9:54 <br />P.M. WITH SAME MEMBERS PRESENT. <br />COMMENTS <br />PUBLIC COMMENTS <br />• Michael Klubnikin, impressed with presentation by Councilmember Reyna who thanked <br />his mentors; <br />• James Kendrick, concerned with high speed and lack of traffic mitigation along Broadway <br />Ave. - public safety concerns; also, funding for improvements not included in the capital <br />improvement budget. <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 27 DECEMBER 6, 2016 <br />
