Dr. Harwood and his wife were very active
in the community and his wife was a member of the Ebell club. He was a member of the Young Men's Christian Association, and he and his wife frequently held fundraising teas at this
house. By the early 1940's, the house was sold to 0. H. Barr who owned and operated Ban- Lumber Company (previously known
as Griffin Lumber). It was noted that on September 28, 1940 and during a housewarming party, the water heater broke, and
completely flooded the basement. After repairs, Mr. Barr and his wife were able to take up residence by 1941. Mr. Barr was well
known for his innovative approach to marketing his lumber business.
