The Director of <br /> Public Works may inspect the Contractor' s operations and <br /> equipment at any reasonable time and the Contractor shall <br /> admit him to make such inspections at any reasonable time <br /> and place. <br /> 17. Collection of Bulky Items <br /> In order to promote public sanitation and <br /> reduce fire hazards, Contractor shall provide to all resi- <br /> dential service units the service of curbside collection of <br /> bulky items such as couches, refrigerators, rugs , water <br /> heaters, and other items of solid waste which Contractor is <br /> not required to collect under section 9 because of size or <br /> weight, as follows : <br /> (1) Upon the written request of the City, <br /> and not more than once each year, on a date or dates to be <br /> agreed upon in advance between Contractor and the Director <br /> of Public Works, Contractor will provide such service, free <br /> of charge, to all residential service units; provided City <br /> shall reimburse Contractor for one-half (1/2) the actual <br /> costs incurred by reason of such extraordinary collection. <br /> (2) Contractor shall provide such service to <br /> any residential service unit requesting the same, within ten <br /> (10) days after receiving such request, for a fair and reasonably <br /> consistent fee per collection, to be paid to the Contractor <br /> directly. <br /> 18. Fees and Gratuities <br /> Contractor shall not, nor shall he permit any <br /> agent, employee or sub-contractor employed by him to, <br /> request, solicit, demand, or accept, either directly or <br /> indirectly, any compensation or gratuity for the collection <br /> of refuse otherwise required to be collected under this <br /> contract, except such compensation as is provided for in <br /> this contract.
