man, will also be considered as refuse. There shall be a load limit, <br /> of not over sixty pounds per container and two hundred (200) popnds <br /> for each refuse service stop. Tree limbs, brush, lengths of wood and <br /> similar materials shall be cut in lengths of four (4) feet or less' <br /> and securely tied with heavy cord or wire into bundles not more than <br /> two (2) feet in thickness. <br /> (g) Placement of Refuse for Collection <br /> All collections of garbage and trashfrom residential and <br /> commercial occupancies shall be made from the curb along the street, <br /> public or private, in front of each dwelling, or the alley in the <br /> rear of each dwelling; or from the premises of commercial areas . <br /> having paved travel-ways: except where paved alleys, having access <br /> to streets at each end, exist in the rear of business properties, <br /> and from such properties collections shall be made from said alleys. <br /> The owner or tenant of a commercial occupancy or a multiple <br /> dwelling may provide by mutual agreement with the Contractor for <br /> collection at a location other than as specified above, if approved <br /> by the Director of Public Works. <br /> (h) Frequency of Refuse Collections <br /> The Contractor shall collect all refuse daily, except Sunday, <br /> I from the commercial areas of the City, as identified by the Director <br /> of Public Works by means of maps furnished periodically; except that <br /> residences of less than five (5) dwelling units, in said commercial <br /> areas may be served once each week on a regular schedule, and a lesser <br /> number of collections per week than the daily collection may be allowed <br /> for certain residential or business occupancies within said commercial <br /> area after request for such modification of service has been made to <br /> the Director of Public Works and his permission for such modification <br /> has been granted. The Contractor may require operators of restaurants, <br /> markets and similar establishments to keep garbage in separate con- <br /> tainers from the trash. <br /> The Contractor will collect all refuse from the residential area <br /> of the City at least once each week; and in addition, will provide more <br /> frequent service for such commercial occupancies or residences of <br /> five (5) or more dwelling units as may, in the opinion of the Director <br /> of Public Works, require such additional service. <br /> (i) Holidays <br /> Collection of garbage and refuse shall not be required on Sundays <br /> or on the following legal holidays: New Year's Day, Independence Day, <br /> Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas; excepting in cases of <br /> emergency and upon the express direction of the Director of, Public Works . <br /> Whenever a regular collection falls on such a holiday, then collection <br /> shall be made on the day following. <br /> (j) Emergency Collections <br /> In the event of an act of God, earthquake, storm, fire or other <br /> extraordinary situations generating abnormal amounts of refuse the <br /> City may require additional collection and shallbe charged at a <br /> rate commensurate with conditions existing at the time of such an <br /> occasion and at such reasonable terms as shall be established by the <br /> Director of Public Works. <br /> Page 4, of 12 <br />
