The primary objective of this planning effort was to provide a <br />comprehensive road map for future development, with a special focus on"Measure <br />Z" bond project packaging, phasing, and implementation, which Included a 21 - <br />acre expansion to the Zoo, <br />Over the 8 month planning process, CLR developed new land use and circulation <br />models for Roeding Park and the Fresno Chaffee Zoo, This new organization <br />simplified vehicular and pedestrian circulation systems, and proposed a new <br />parking hub and main entrance to the Zoo, which proved to be a key solution and <br />driver of the spatial organization of the Master Plan. New paths, gardens, event <br />venues, attractions, and other recreation concepts were developed for the park <br />system. The Zoo Master Plan focused on redefining and refurbishing the existing <br />18 -acre menagerie Zoo campus, as well as developing completely new ideas for <br />the 21 -acre expansion site, New initiatives at the existing Zoo campus include a <br />grand new entry village and parking hub, diversity of life pavilions and education <br />hub, children's zoo, sea lion habitat, Asian elephant and archipelago habitats <br />expansion, and a new rainforest aviary pavilion. <br />SAtdTA APIA ZOO I MASTER PLAN 13 <br />
