It
is a flawed idea for numerous reasons.
From an architectural standpoint it is horrible. All symmetry on the corner will
be destroyed. This is a landmark property on a signature corner in Floral Park. If a
wall is erected people will not be able to see all four revival styles represented on
the corner.
From a safety standpoint people will not be able to see who is walking down
19th street. A wall at the property line also impairs drivers views around the
corner. There have already been several accidents at the corner.
A wall that stretches 150 feet will be a target for graffiti artists. This makes the
neighborhood seem unsafe. This will have negative effect on property values.
Walls send the message to stay out. This is contrary to Floral Park's spirit of
inclusion and openness.
From a personal viewpoint a wall eliminates my view out the living room
window. I will no longer be able to see down 19th street which is a historic. Ire.
This lowers my property value.
I urge the city to reject this wall which will be a permanent fixture long after the
owner is gone.
Thank you
Eamon Garces
1901 N Heliotrope
Sent from my iPhone
37
