Dear Property Owner: <br />Our State and Federal Constitutions recognize the need for public agencies to purchase <br />private property for public use. The Uniform Relocation Assistance and Real Property <br />Acquisitions Policies Act of 1970 (Uniform Act), or similar State legislation and <br />eminent domain law of the State of California authorize purchase of private property for <br />public use and ensure that owners of real estate (real property) to be acquired are treated <br />fairly and consistently. <br />This Handbook provides a brief summary of the City's acquisition procedures and <br />various laws it is not intended to give a complete statement of all state or federal laws and <br />regulations pertaining to the purchase of your property for a public use, technical Iegal <br />definitions or any form of legal advice, Recipients of offer letters $om the City should be <br />aware that such laws and procedures are subject to change by future legislation and/or <br />court decisions. <br />In the event the City decides to proceed with the proposed acquisition, City's acquisition <br />consultant will contact you. <br />75H-24 <br />
