2017-18 Orange County Children's Therapeutic Arts Center <br />Youth Employment Program - WIOA Proposal <br />4. Family Planning — Planned Parenthood and Human Options will provide our WIOA youth <br />with information on healthy relationship and birth control. These workshops are intended to <br />help assist youth with their future and current family stabilities. <br />S. Worker's Rights/Labor Laws — Participants will be able to learn and understand their rights <br />as an employee in California from things like mandatory break times and benefits. Participant <br />will also be able to learn and understand how to ask and receive accommodations that must be <br />provided to those who have same type of learning or physical disability. As well as questions <br />that may not be asked in an interview or after becoming an employee. <br />6. Analytical Skills at the Workplace — All WIOA youth will be provided with a task analysis and <br />literacy analysis, skills assessments, job profiling, and pre-employment work skills. Each <br />of these sills can provide a path to improve the participant's ability to perform basic job skills in <br />the field or job they have or may have in the future. <br />7. Health Resources — Participants will be given resources from our community partners, <br />including Planned Parenthood on how to be healthy and safe, and how to obtain medical <br />services. Additionally, our MECCA coalition, Pepperdine University, USC, School of Social Work, <br />and the County of Orange, Health Agency will provide WIOA participants with other health <br />resources and mental health specialists, if needed. <br />8. Public Speaking Skills — All Youth will be asked to take a training that will allow them to learn <br />the necessary skills for public speaking, including how to speak to employers and/or new offsite <br />work placements and new potential employers. Also, youth will learn how to create and give <br />oral presentations, as well as how to speak to people when networking for future connections. <br />11.Civic_E_ngagement and/or Leadership Development <br />A. Can your organization offer a civic engagement opportunity or leadership development <br />opportunity for WIOA youth and other youth in the community, if so, please describe. — <br />AII WIOA youth will be asked to participate in the youth council meetings. They will be asked to <br />contribute ideas/information on how to better serve the youth in Santa Ana. Youth will also be <br />asked to assist MECCA collaborative, by engaging with our partner agencies, and creating and <br />presenting employment workshops to other transitional age youth and adults at those sites, in <br />order to contribute to a better future for our OC community! <br />B. Indicate the number of youth that will participate in the civic engagement or <br />leadership development opportunity — All WIOA youth will be asked to engage in <br />leadership development opportunities at OCCTAC and the community, through civic <br />engagement activities that will help their community be a better place to live in! <br />C. Special consideration for organizations that can leverage funds to provide services to <br />non-WIOA youth participants — Yes, but this would require more discussion and <br />coordination with ALL WIOA Agencies involved, so the responsibility is equally divided <br />between all partner agencies. <br />
