According to the Economic Value of Opportunity Youth study of 2012 by the University of New <br />York and Columbia University, "youth who receive constructive engagement of services to build <br />pathways that offer support to navigate the labor market and gain education necessary to <br />sustain self-sufficiency are successful in reducing the social and taxpayer burden then those who <br />do not receive services." The same study also went on to say that organizations that offer <br />education coupled with paid work services are highly successful and preferred by opportunity <br />youth and stating that 69% of opportunity youth surveyed stated they are looking for work but <br />feel that they need support in the form of education and employment services. <br />H. 'tutoring <br />A. Describe in detail the tutoring resources that will be provided to youth <br />The Education Corps Charter School credentialed teachers will interact with WIOA <br />Corpsmembers on a daily basis as they attend class five days a week, Monday -Friday, and <br />provide additional one on one tutoring as needed. Week -end work/school activities will be <br />scheduled as needed and appropriate. The WIOA Program Specialist (case manager) will meet <br />at least monthly to monitor the participant's progress in meeting their Individual Service <br />Strategy goals, and other work/school/personal issues that may arise. <br />Other organizations such as social services, counseling centers, probation/parole, etc., may be <br />providing outside support services as in-kind support for this proposal. Many WIOA <br />participants may come to the Corps already involved is such services while others may be <br />referred. The Corps strongly believes in the All Youth, One System Concept which promotes <br />networking with many outside entities to ensure all WIOA Corpsmembers are linked to a <br />variety of support services in the community. <br />9. Mentoring <br />A. Specify how your organization will provide mentoring to youth <br />OCCC staff members will meet daily with WIOA Corpsmembers to deliver program components. <br />Corpsmembers will be assigned to work in a crew which is supervised by one of the OCCC's <br />Crew Supervisors. The Crew Supervisor will work Monday -Thursday with WIOA Corpsmembers <br />to complete assigned work projects. Other OCCC staff or interns meet with WIOA <br />Corpsmembers as needed for specialized trainings, workshops, or individualized follow up <br />regarding work/school/personal issues that may arise. <br />0I4M1111in <br />
