Name of Applicant: Amount Requested: Category: Score: <br />Delhi Center $10,000 Organization 84.2 — 3rd <br />Description of Project: <br />The Delhi Center Summer Arts Camp will provide challenging enrichment and cultural <br />art lessons for 60 to 100 participants ages 6-18 including classes in singing, acting and <br />improvisation, musical theater, hip hop, breakdance, popping, ballet, ballet folklorico, <br />and art and illustration. Participants will have several different activities to choose from <br />each week so that they are exposed to different art forms and artistic disciplines in order <br />to increase their awareness and appreciation of the arts. <br />The program will provide high-quality, personalized learning and instruction. Classes will <br />be divided into different age groups and/or skill levels to ensure success for all students. <br />The curriculum begins with foundational skills and progresses towards greater levels of <br />complexity, creativity, and achievement. Lesson plans include developing teamwork and <br />working with partners as well as independent practice. Students learn to follow <br />instructions and become more self-confident by having the opportunity to master skills <br />in a supportive environment. Program Leaders will assist instructors by supervising <br />participants during non -class hours and will manage the free lunch program. <br />The Summer Arts Camp will be conducted Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 5:30 <br />pm for 5 weeks from July 10 through August 11. A minimum of two classes per hour for <br />a total of 10 classes per day will be conducted during the first 3 weeks and rehearsals <br />and preparation for the Extravaganza will take place the final two weeks, with the <br />production to be held during the last week. The Extravaganza will include a dance and <br />singing recital, a musical theater rendition of a popular book or play, an art gallery, and <br />a video presentation. <br />The Delhi Center Summer Arts Camp is modeled after a pilot program that was <br />conducted in the summer of 2016. The lessons learned last summer have been used to <br />develop a more focused program that is expected to achieve greater participation and <br />success. A video of the summer will be produced and presented during the end -of - <br />summer Extravaganza and a second video of the Extravaganza itself will be produced <br />to be presented at various events in the community as well as on the Delhi Center <br />website and other social media sites. <br />The Camp provides a way to achieve cultural equity, access, and inclusion in cultural <br />arts programming by taking advantage of existing facilities that are underutilized that will <br />be made available to the community for a wide range of artistic endeavors. <br />The proposed program improves the quality of life of residents by engaging them in <br />25D-15 <br />
