VOTE: AYES: Benavides, Pulido, Sarmiento, Solorio, Villegas (5) <br />NOES: None (0) <br />ABSTAIN: None (0) <br />ABSENT: Martinez, Tinajero (2) <br />COMMENTS <br />'Councilmember Sarmiento left the meeting at 10:30 p.m. before leaving indicated he went on <br />a family vacation to Quime, Bolivia and received a proclamation on behalf of council. <br />PUBLIC COMMENTS <br />• Steve Rocco: claims fraud by the mayor <br />• Joshua Loeper, St. Joseph Church, proposed 4 -way stop at intersection of Civic Center <br />and Lacy; concern for public safety, friend Charlene Hanson died Saturday July 17. <br />• Daniel Nau, St. Joseph Church, echoed comments from Joshua Loeper. <br />90A. CITY MANAGER'S COMMENTS - NONE <br />90B. CITY COUNCILMEMBER COMMENTS <br />Councilmember Solorio: <br />• Asked staff that medians and trees be addressed during warmer weather; <br />• Encouraged outreach and proactive communication on fireworks; <br />• Thanked the PD on addressing homeless issues along the riverbed; and <br />• Thanked Interim City Manager on selecting Acting Police Chief Valentin - <br />wished him well. <br />Councilmember Villegas: <br />• Welcomed new Acting Police Chief Valentin; and <br />• Thanked staff for hard work on today's agenda. <br />Councilmember Benavides: <br />• Thanked staff for efforts on budget; <br />• Spoke of recent tragedy that killed a pedestrian; need; staff to consider <br />increasing crossing guards at key locations; also, government to assist those <br />willing to volunteer with such efforts; <br />• Encouraged all to support local businesses; <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 40 JUNE 20, 2017 <br />1 OA -40 <br />
