The following spoke on the matter: <br />• Kim McPeck, representing SEIU 721, opposed the budget as proposed; <br />employee union members have experienced extensive cuts over the year. <br />• Mike Lopez, representing SEIU 721, urged a "No" vote on the proposed <br />budget; past deficits were projected when employees have not received <br />raises and continue to contribute to pension costs; union members seek <br />equitable pay. <br />• Victor Madrigal, representing SEIU 721, request that budget include salary <br />increases for dedicated employees. <br />• Tony Carrillo, representing SEIU 721, noted that union membership has <br />dropped from over 1,000 to 400; City needs remain the same; part-time <br />members have increased. <br />• Mark Kiss, representing SEIU 721, spoke of respect toward long term, <br />dedicated employees that need to be recognized. <br />• Monica Suter, representing SEIU 721, opined that furloughs in the past have <br />significantly impacted union members. <br />• Jonathan Hernandez, request additional funding for youth programs; <br />opposed to police officer pay increases. <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 22 JUNE 20, 2017 <br />
