CITY COUNCILMEMBER COMMENTS <br />Councilmember Solorio: <br />• Asked staff that medians and trees be addressed during warmer weather; <br />• Encouraged outreach and proactive communication on fireworks; <br />• Thanked the PD on addressing homeless issues along the riverbed; and <br />• Thanked Interim City Manager on selecting Acting Police Chief Valentin - <br />wished him well. <br />Councilmember Villegas: <br />• Welcomed new Acting Police Chief Valentin; and <br />• Thanked staff for hard work on today's agenda. <br />Councilmember Benavides: <br />• Thanked staff for efforts on budget; <br />• Spoke of recent tragedy that killed a pedestrian; need; staff to consider <br />increasing crossing guards at key locations; also, government to assist those <br />willing to volunteer with such efforts; <br />• Encouraged all to support local businesses; <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 40 JUNE 20, 2017 <br />
