NO. 17-063) <br />(STRATEGIC PLAN NO. 6,2) <br />{SURPLUS ALLOCATION FUNDII01 <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />• 06 e <br />❑ <br />As Recommended <br />❑ <br />As Amended <br />❑ <br />Ordinance on V' Reading <br />❑ <br />Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />❑ <br />Implementing Resolution <br />❑ <br />Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Authorize a one-time purchase and payment of purchase order to Guaranty Chevrolet Motors, <br />Inc. for the purchase of one prisoner transport van in the amount of $46,485 plus a contingency of <br />$1,000 for a total amount not to exceed $47,485, subject to non -substantive changes approved <br />by the City Manager and City Attorney. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Finance and Management Services Agency, Facilities, Fleet Maintenance and Central Stores <br />Division is responsible for the acquisition, maintenance, repair, and replacement of vehicles, <br />trucks, and maintenance equipment. The City's Vehicle Replacement Policy provides guidelines <br />and criteria for determining when vehicles need replacement. This criteria includes vehicle age, <br />mileage, maintenance costs, and safety history. As a result of reviewing the City's replacement <br />criteria, one of the Police Department's prisoner transport vans that has mileage in excess of <br />150,000 miles have been identified for replacement. <br />Although the van will be utilized for transporting detainees to the hospital when needed, the van <br />will also be used to assist patrol with scheduled enforcement sweeps throughout the City. The <br />van will be equipped and fabricated with approved prisoner transit modifications to ensure the <br />safety of officers and arrestees. <br />The Notice Inviting Bids was advertised on May 11, 2017 on the City's online bid management <br />and publication system.
