4.3 Salary Adjustments. <br />A. The base salaries of Sworn employees covered by this MOU shall be adjusted as <br />follows: <br />Effective July 1, 2017, the base salary of employees covered by this MOU shall be <br />increased by 2.75%. <br />Effective January 1, 2018, the base salary of employees covered by this MOU shall <br />be increased by 2.75%. <br />B Retiree Health Contribution. Effective July 1, 2017, the base salary of employees <br />covered by this MOU such as they are on that date shall be increased by one percent <br />(1%). <br />Effective July 1, 2017, all employees covered by this MOU will contribute two percent <br />(2%) of their base salary plus pay additives through payroll deduction to a fund <br />maintained by the Santa Ana Police Officers Association for the purpose of providing <br />retiree health insurance premium reduction assistance, This payroll deduction for <br />retiree health insurance premium reduction assistance will continue until such time as <br />the parties may mutually agree to end said, reduction. <br />Additionally, effective October 1, 2017, and each October I" thereafter, the City shall <br />contribute an amount equal to three-quarters percent (,75%) of the bargaining unit's <br />annual base salary, including pay additives (excluding overtime), to a fund maintained <br />by the Santa Ana Police Officers Association for the purpose of providing retiree health <br />insurance premium reduction assistance. <br />4.4 Longevity Pav. Effective July 1, 2017 Sworn employees will be paid 2,5% above his <br />or her base monthly salary step for the completion of 15 years of service through 19 <br />years of service. At the beginning of 20 years of service or more, sworn employees will <br />be paid an additional; 2.5% above his or her base monthly salary step. <br />4.5 Application of Basic Compensation Plan. The salary rate ranges and steps contained in <br />Exhibit A are monthly salary rates. All officers and employees working in classifications <br />of employment covered by this MOU shall be compensated at a monthly rate, except that <br />an employee hired for temporary work in a position which has an anticipated duration of <br />less than six (6) months shall be ,paid at a rate per hour for actual time spent in the <br />performance of the duties of his or her employment. Any hourly rate of pay, defined as the <br />regular hourly rate of pay, shall be computed by dividing the monthly salary rate plus pay <br />additives by 173.33. In determining the hourly rate as herein provided, computation shall <br />be made to the nearest whole cent and a computation resulting in exactly one-half cent or <br />higher shall fix the rate at the next higher whole cent. <br />4.6 Beginning Rates. A new employee of the City of Santa Ana shall be paid the rate shown <br />as Step "A" in the salary rate range allocated to the class of employment for which he or <br />she has been hired.
