ARTICLE IX <br />9.0 HOLIDAYS <br />9.1 Legal holidays observed by hill -time permanent and probationary employees covered by <br />this MOU are as follows: <br />• January Ist - New Year's Day, <br />• Third (3rd) Monday in January - In observance of Martin Luther King Jr.'s <br />Birthday. <br />• Third (3rd) Monday in February - In observance of Presidents' Day. <br />• Last Monday in May - In commemoration of Memorial Day. <br />• July 4th - In observance of Independence Day. <br />• First (Ist) Monday in September - In observance of Labor Day, <br />• November 1 Ith - In observance of Veteran's Day. <br />• Fourth (4th) Thursday in November - In observance of Thanksgiving Day. <br />• The Friday immediately following Thanksgiving Day. <br />• December 25th - In observance of Christmas Day. <br />• Last working day before Christmas Day, Coxless Christmas falls on a Thursday, <br />in which instance, the day following Christmas Day shall be observed in lieu <br />thereof. <br />• One (1) Floating Holiday - Any workday selected by the employee with prior <br />permission of the employee's supervisor. <br />• Everyday proclaimed by the Mayor of the City as a holiday for City employees <br />Any holiday which falls on a Sunday will be observed on the following Monday. Any <br />holiday which falls on a Saturday will be observed on the Friday preceding the Holiday. <br />9.2 Full-time, permanent and probationary employees covered by this MOU shall be entitled <br />to receive 96 hours off during the calendar year in lieu of the twelve (12) holidays specified <br />in Section 9. 1, supra. Said hours, up to a maximum of 80 hours, may be carried over from <br />one calendar year to the next and shall be cashed out upon separation from employment, <br />not to exceed a maximum of 160 hours. An employee required to work on a City observed <br />"legal" holiday shall be paid at his or her straight time rate. <br />35 <br />
