City of Santa Ana CDBG Scope of Work <br />Program Year 2017.18 (July 1, 2017 -June 30, 2018) <br />Name of Organization Delhi Center <br />Name of Funded Program Teens Engaged in Learning and Leadership <br />Annual Accomplishment Goal <br />Unduplicated Partici ants anticipated to be served during the 12-mont1h contracteriod. <br />22 TOTAL - 22 Santa Ana Participants 100% 22 Low Income Participants 1 100% <br />Program and Funding Description <br />Program activities and outcomes are defined based on five developmental areas and include classroom and <br />internship experiences at Delhi Center and neighborhood meetings and events. Frequency of service delivery will <br />depend on the personal goals of each teen and will involve a commitment of at least 30 hours of classroom training, <br />80 hours internship work, 100 hours volunteer service, and 2 community events. The target population includes 22 <br />Santa Ana teens, ages 14-19. Teens will be recruited based on two levels of targeted prevention. 1) PRIMARY <br />PREVENTION targets all youth living in a community where gangs are present. 2) SECONDARY PREVENTION targets <br />high-risk youth who have displayed an elevated risk for gang membership, are not yet gang involved, but are very <br />likely to confront the decision of whether to join a gang in the near future as they represent a pool of candidates for <br />future gang membership. Teens will complete a'skills assessment and personal goal plan and will engage in group <br />activities emphasizing personal development, critical thinking, problem solving skills, and gang prevention. Teens will <br />work on career readiness, including resume/portfolio preparation, mock interviews, job coaching, etc. Each teen will <br />be trained and supervised by Delhi Center staff in an internship which may include financial stability activities, <br />community engagement activities to improve the perception of community safety, senior services, assistant <br />instructors in visual and performing arts and STEM based projects, social media marketing, website development, <br />customer service, and research. Classroom topics will include conflict resolution role playing, and social activities <br />that provide practice in communication and personal presentation. Teens will develop positive peer interactions, <br />trust, and effective communication, by connecting with peers and adults who demonstrate positive social behaviors, <br />including networking activities, mentoring, and contact with local leaders.
