City of Santa Ana CDBG Scope of Work <br />Program Year 2017-18 (July 1, 2017 -June 30, 2018) <br />Name of Organization Orange County Children's Therapeutic Arts Center <br />Name of Funded Program OCCTAC Crime Prevention & Intervention Program for Willard Middle School Familes <br />Annual Accomplishment Goal <br />Unduplicated Participants anticipated to be served during the 12 -month contract period. <br />180 TOTAL 180 Santa Ana Participants 100% 180 LOW Income Participant 100% <br />Program and Funding Description <br />Youth -A structured After School Arts and Tutoring program will provide Santa Ana youth with the opportunity to engage Ina variety of classes that will help divert <br />youth from negative social problems and engage in positive, fun, creative and artistic programs offered at our agency, such as: Vocal Music, Instrumental Music, <br />Graphic (Design, Digital Arts, Painting and many othersl Our After -School Arts program runs every day from 3:30 pm - 8:00 pm (M -F) and on Saturdays from 9:00 <br />am - 4:00 pm. In addition to the After School Arts Program, the youth will be provided with the opportunity to receive daily tutoring In our Learning Academy <br />Program, and receive academic support with any subject they are struggling with academically, such as math, science, reading, etc, at school. Tutors will be <br />available Monday through Friday during the same after school hours of operation to help our youth on any given day of the week. <br />Parents- In addition to the programs offered to the youth, the parents will also be Invited to participate in a weekly series of Parenting Classes focused on crime <br />prevention, discipline strategies, communication skills, family conflict, behavioral problems, family violence and others. This parenting program Is designed to help <br />parents learn to recognize both prosocial and antisocial behaviors, employ social learning techniques (e.g., positive reinforcement, ignoring, distraction, <br />punishment),preventing delinquency and family violence. Families experiencing crisis will also be offered Counseling. <br />For families participating In our Crime Prevention program, the emphasis will be placed on enrolling them in our After School Arts, Tutoring and Parenting Classes. <br />For families participating In our Crime Intervention program, the emphasis will be placed on enrolling them in our Therapeutic Arts Program and Family Counseling. <br />See below: <br />B 1. - After -School Arts & Tutoring Program - Daily Service delivery <br />B2: Therapeutic Arts- Weekly Service delivery <br />B 3. - Parenting Classes - Weekly Service delivery <br />B 4. - Family Counseling - Monthly Service Delivery (For Crises Intervention Weekly Services) <br />Target Population - Willard Middle School Students and Parents will be our target population. All students in this school are either at -risk or already engaging in <br />criminal activity, violence drugs, teen pregnancy, and others. As reported by Willard's principal, 60% of all students attending Willard Middle School reported <br />"Feeling Helpless", according to a recent California Healthy Kids Survey. Principal Amy Scruton noted that she is very concerned for her students, and is looking <br />forward to collaborate with OCCTAC to implement this crime prevention and intervention program. Please read below Q13 for more information on Willard Middle <br />School challenges.
