REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />SEPTEMBER 19, 2017 <br />TITLE: <br />APPROVE AGREEMENT WITH NV5 GLOBAL, <br />INC., FOR CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERING <br />SERVICES FOR THE WALNUT PUMP <br />STATION BUILDING UPGRADE PROJECT <br />(PROJECT NO. 11-6412) <br />{STRATEGIC PLAN NO. 69 1C) <br />OfY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />❑ As Recommended <br />❑ <br />As Amended <br />❑ <br />Ordinance on 1" Reading <br />❑ <br />Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />❑ <br />Implementing Resolution <br />❑ <br />Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Authorize the City Manager and the Clerk of the Council to execute an agreement with NV5 <br />Global, Inc., to provide Construction Engineering Services for the Walnut Pump Station Building <br />Upgrade project for a two-year term beginning September 19, 2017, and expiring on September <br />18, 2019, with provisions for a one-year extension exercisable by the City Manager and City <br />Attorney, for a total amount not to exceed $180,000 over the entire life of the agreement, <br />including any renewal period, subject to nonsubstantive changes approved by the City Manager <br />and City Attorney. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Public Works Agency oversees construction for capital improvement projects. Approval of <br />Construction Engineering Services for the Walnut Pump Station Building Upgrade project is <br />recommended to augment staff and properly manage construction, meet agency goals, and <br />deliver the projects in a cost effective and timely manner. <br />The Walnut Pump Station is located north of Santa Ana High School near First Street and <br />Flower Street (Exhibit 1). This facility is integral to the City's potable water distribution system <br />and is vital in ensuring safe and reliable drinking water for city residents. The Walnut Pump <br />Station project is currently under construction and has a construction value of $3.6 million. <br />Improvements include pump station building enclosures, piping, plumbing, structural, <br />mechanical, and electrical work. Once completed, the Walnut Pump Station will provide <br />reliable water supply to the City, and facility modernizations will enhance the aesthetics of the <br />surrounding area. <br />251-1 <br />
