REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />OCTOBER 17, 2017 <br />TITLE: <br />RECEIVE AND FILE BYLAWS FOR THE <br />LEGISLATIVE AFFAIRS, ETHICS, <br />TRANSPARENCY,AND <br />COMMUNICATIONS COUNCIL <br />COMMITTEE <br />(STRATEGIC PLAN NO. 5, 1) <br />CI MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />❑ As Recommended <br />❑ As Amended <br />❑ Ordinance on 1 n Reading <br />❑ Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />❑ Implementing Resolution <br />❑ Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Receive and file the amended Bylaws for the Legislative Affairs, Ethics, Transparency, and <br />Communications Council Committee. <br />LEGISLATIVE AFFAIRS, ETHICS, AND TRANSPARENCY COUNCIL COMMITTEE <br />At the regular Legislative Affairs, Ethics, and Transparency Council Committee meeting on <br />October 4, 2017 the Committee Members approved the amended bylaws by a vote of 2-0 <br />(Tinajero absent) to add communications to the duties of the Committee. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The attached bylaws (Exhibit 1) include the category of Communications as requested by the <br />Committee Members at the July 19, 2017 meeting. The bylaws provide the Committee Members <br />with the ability to recommend policies, protocols, and strategies to effectively communicate the <br />City's messaging. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT <br />This item supports the City's efforts to meet Goal #5 - Community Health, Livability, Engagement <br />& Sustainability, Objective #1 (Establish a comprehensive community engagement initiative to <br />expand access to information and create opportunities for stakeholders to play an active role in <br />discussing public policy and setting priorities). <br />19E-1 <br />
