For instance, in matters related to
family violence where the victim is an immigrant parent with children, LASOC's CDBG staff will provide wraparound legal
services and assist with obtaining custody, protective orders, dissolution and/or establishing paternity. Further, LASOC
shall inquire if they need assistance in immigration relief, health advocacy, tenant defense, IRS tax issues, employment
rights, expungements and government benefits to ensure that all legal needs are met. Clients will no longer face barriers
that require them to look to various providers for assistance.
LASOC staff will provide direct attorney and paralegal assistance to provide all in-depth counsel and advice, pleading
preparation, settlement negotiations, and in some complex cases, court or administrative agency legal representation. Full
representation will be provided in cases which have the most potential for serious adverse effect upon the individuals
involved and where representation is likely to affect the outcome of the case. By closing this significant gap in services,
underserved victims will benefit from comprehensive legal services which will ensure their ability to move through the
crisis into long-term safety and promote crime prevention, intervention, and suppression.
The core aspect of this project is to serve Santa Ana families who have experienced domestic violence through meaningful
holistic civil legal services. Particularly, this project aims to serve immigrants who need additional help navigating through
the justice system. LASOC seeks to address not only the development and availability of these services, but also the way in
which victims are connected to services. LASOC aims to remove barriers for victims to obtain help and to provide
continuity of services legal services and advocacy.
Schedule of Performance
Unduplicated Estimated
Participants Invoicing
Quarter 1: JUL 1 - SEP 30 8 $ -
Quarter 2: OCT 1 - DEC 31 8 $ -
Quarter 3: JAN 1 - MAR 31 8 $ -
Quarter 4: APR 1 - JUN 30 9 $ -
33 $ -
Exhibit A
