FREE RECORDING PURSUANT TO <br />GOVERNMENT CODE § 27383 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2017-17 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE HISTORIC RESOURCES <br />COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA APPROVING <br />HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMISSION APPLICATION <br />NO. 2017-21 TO PLACE THE PROPERTY LOCATED AT <br />1121 SOUTH HICKORY STREET, SANTA ANA, ON THE <br />HISTORICAL REGISTER AND APPROVING HISTORIC <br />REGISTER CATEGORIZATION NO. 2017-20 PLACING <br />SAID PROPERTY WITHIN THE KEY CATEGORY <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. The Historic Resources Commission of the City of Santa Ana <br />hereby finds, determines and declares as follows: <br />A. On October 5, 2017 the Historic Resources Commission held a duly <br />noticed public hearing for the placement on the Santa Ana Register of <br />Historical Properties (Historic Resources Commission Application No. <br />2017-21) and categorization (Historic Resources Commission <br />Categorization No. 2017-20) of the Eastin House located at 1121 South <br />Hickory Street, Santa Ana. <br />B. The Eastin House has distinctive architectural features of the Queen Anne <br />style, and was built in 1907 by an unknown arcitect. <br />C. This home qualifies for listing on the Santa Ana Register of Historical <br />Properties and is eligible for categorization as Key under Criterion 1 for its <br />exemplification of the distinguishing characteristics of the Queen Anne <br />style. Typical features of this style illustrated by the house include its <br />asymmetrical composition; multi -gable roof form with pediments; lapped <br />wood siding; and, fishscale shingles. Additionally, the house has been <br />categorized as "Key" because it "is a unique example of period <br />architecture" in its presentation of the Queen Anne style. All original <br />exterior features of the Eastin House are considered to be character <br />defining and should be preserved. Character -defining features of the <br />Eastin House include, but may not be limited to, materials and finishes <br />(siding, fishscale shingles); roof configuration, materials, and treatment; <br />massing and composition; fenestration (original windows); and porch <br />configuration, materials, and composition. <br />D. Jillian N. Andrews is the owner of the property. <br />E.
