FREE RECORDING PURSUANT TO
GOVERNMENT CODE § 27383
RESOLUTION NO. 2017-20
A RESOLUTION OF THE HISTORIC RESOURCES
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA APPROVING
HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMISSION APPLICATION
NO. 2017-24 TO PLACE THE PROPERTY LOCATED AT
2005 NORTH ROSS STREET, SANTA ANA, ON THE
HISTORICAL REGISTER AND APPROVING HISTORIC
REGISTER CATEGORIZATION NO, 2017-23 PLACING
SAID PROPERTY WITHIN THE KEY CATEGORY
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The Historic Resources Commission of the City of Santa Ana
hereby finds, determines and declares as follows:
A. On October 5, 2017, the Historic Resources Commission held a duly
noticed public hearing for the placement on the Santa Ana Register of
Historical Properties (Historic Resources Commission Application No.
2017-24) and categorization (Historic Resources Commission
Categorization No. 2017-23) of the Lowe -Norton House located at 2005
North Ross Street, Santa Ana.
B. The Lowe -Norton House has distinctive architectural features of the
English Revival style, and was built in 1929 by Allison Honer.
C. This home qualifies for listing on the Santa Ana Register of Historical
Properties and is eligible for categorization as Key under Criterion 1 for its
exemplification of the distinguishing characteristics of the English Revival
style. Typical features of this style illustrated by the house include its
asymmetrical composition; stucco walls; arched entry door; steeply
pitched roof; half timbering in the gables. Character -defining features of
the Lowe -Norton House that should be preserved include, but may not be
limited to, materials and finishes: original windows where extant; brick
quoining; roof shape and materials; rolled eaves; rounded entryway; and
brick chimney. Additionally, the house has been categorized as "Key"
because it is an intact example of an English Revival style residence in the
Floral Park neighborhood, and "has a distinctive architectural style and
quality."
D. The Daniel and Helen Norton Living Trust is the owner of the property.
E. The legal description for the subject property is attached hereto as Exhibit
A and incorporated by this reference as though fully set forth herein.
Resolution No. 2017-20
