Agreement for Grant -funded Citywide Safe Routes to School Plan <br />November 7, 2017 <br />Page 2 <br />Staff recommends that Alta Planning & Design be retained for an amount not to exceed $585,000 <br />for transportation/traffic planning and engineering services. This firm has demonstrated they have <br />the experience and resources needed to provide the required services. The Consultant will <br />interface both locally with City staff and other affected agencies; participating in weekly and/or daily <br />Project meetings as the Citywide Safe Routes to School Plan is developed. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT <br />There is no environmental impact associated with this action. Individual environmental reviews will <br />be conducted for each recommended improvement at the time of implementation. These types of <br />projects typically qualify for Categorical Exemptions. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT <br />Approval of this item supports the City's efforts to meet Goal #5 - Community Health, Livability, <br />Engagement & Sustainability, Objective #6 (focus projects and programs on improving the health <br />and wellness of all residents), Strategy B (incorporate the improvement of walking and biking lanes <br />as well as the development of a citywide bike master plan into the Circulation Element of the City's <br />General Plan). <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />The total cost of the agreement is not to exceed $585,000.
