NS -2933 — AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA AMENDING CERTAIN SECTIONS OF ARTICLE XIII OF CHAPTER 18 OF THE <br />SANTA ANA MUNICIPAL CODE PERTAINING TO MEDICINAL MARIJUANA TO UPDATE <br />DEFINITIONS TO COMPLY WITH STATE LAW AND ENSURE CONSISTENCY WITH <br />CHAPTER 40 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE, AND AMENDING ARTICLE XII, SECTION 21-127 <br />OF CHAPTER 21 OF THE SANTA ANA MUNICIPAL CODE INCREASING THE TAX ON <br />MEDICINAL RETAIL MARIJUANA BY ONE PERCENT, FROM FIVE PERCENT TO SIX <br />PERCENT <br />In summary, this ordinance creates consistency between the Santa Ana Municipal Code and <br />State law regarding marijuana/cannabis and increases the tax on medicinal marijuana from 5% to <br />6%. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT <br />Approval of this item supports the City's efforts to meet Goal #5 - Community Health, Livability, <br />Engagement & Sustainability, Objective #1 (Establish a comprehensive community engagement <br />initiative'to expand access to information and create opportunities for stakeholders to play an <br />active role in discussing public policy and setting priorities). <br />11D-1 <br />
