NS -2929 —AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA CREATING CHAPTER 40 OF THE SANTA ANA MUNICIPAL CODE, <br />"REGULATION OF COMMERCIAL CANNABIS", TO REGULATE COMMERCIAL <br />CANNABIS ACTIVITIES, EXCEPTING MEDICINAL RETAIL <br />At an adjourned meeting on November 9, 2017, the ordinance was introduced for second reading. <br />and approved with amendments by a vote of 5-0 (Pulido and Sarmiento absent). The amendments <br />are described in the "Description" section of this report. <br />Following revisions to the ordinance at the November 9, 2017 City Council meeting, the ordinance <br />will allow the existing operational medicinal cannabis retailers to begin selling cannabis for adult use <br />upon execution of an operating agreement by the City. The ordinance also allows Measure BB <br />retailers that are currently in the Regulatory Safety Permitting process to sell adult -use cannabis upon <br />execution of the required operating agreement. Finally, the ordinance allows up to 30 total adult -use <br />cannabis retail stores, inclusive of the Measure BB providers. Applications for new locations that are <br />not from the Measure BB "selected" list will be accepted beginning in 2018. <br />11E-1 <br />
