On the use of CDBG Funds, we need to look at where we can get the most use and development. We need to invest to enhance our facilities. Requested council to consider bring back the skate park analysis. Curious on the amount of funding ($500,000) identified for security cameras. • Cynthia Kurtz (Interim City Manager) indicated there is no rush to decide, we can bring back the list of projects for consideration. ■ Councilman Solorio indicated it was a good job identifying projects city wide. Asked for the total amount needed for deferred maintenance. Asked staff to bring back the non- permanent skate park analysis for downtown and the Plaza of the Flaqs. ■ Cynthia Kurtz indicated we need to develop a Business License agreement for the development of a skate park downtown. The verbal understanding is the Chase's would construct and the City would operate and maintain. Still need to look into the feasibility of access for delivery and trash trucks. • Councilman Solorio indicated we also need to look at other sports needs requested by the community, such as Pony League and Soccer. Need to bring back list of facilities requested by other sports leagues. • Councilman Juan Villegas indicated he heard request for Skate Park at 6th and Lacy. Also if the Skate Park is placed on the Plaza of the Flags, where would you move the homeless? 3. SECURITY CAMERAS IN PARKS UPDATE o Public Comment on agenda item. ® Jose Rea indicated he was pleased to see the Pacific Electric Park Improvements. Also it was great news to hear about the funding for the security lighting on the PE Bike Trail. The P.E. Bike is receiving a lot of use in addition to vandalism at McFadden and Edinger. Reported to council to attend the August 15th Annual Walk-A-Thon. Indicated Madison Neighborhood Association uses Madison Elementary School for their meetings and programs. The first year it cost $40,000 to keep the school open after school. It's great to have a full Joint Use Agreement on Madison School. The first Science Academy 5 week math program was held at the school. Sixty fourth grade students were required to calculate the measurement volume of the garden plots. The school shares the fence/garden with the park and uses the restrooms. Security cameras are needed at Madison Park for children safety. Youth, Rec. & Comm.
