ARTICLE IV <br />4.0 SALARIES <br />4.1 Basic Compensation Plan. There is hereby established a basic compensation plan for all <br />full-time personnel who are now employed or will in the future be employed in any of the <br />designated classifications of employment represented by the Union as listed in this MOU <br />and its attachments. <br />4.2 Salary Schedule. The basic salary schedule, as periodically updated and published by the <br />City, provides numerous salary rate ranges, each comprised of seven (7) steps or rates of <br />pay. <br />The respective rate ranges are identified by a three digit number. The steps within each <br />range are identified by the letters "AAA" through "E" inclusive, with Step "AAA" being <br />the lowest step in the range. The purpose of each step and the length of service required <br />for advancement to the next higher step within a particular salary rate range are set forth in <br />the salary schedule, as periodically updated and published by the City. <br />The assignment of classifications to salary rate ranges is listed in the salary schedule, as <br />periodically updated and published by the City. <br />4.3 Salaries <br />A. The base salaries of employees covered by this MOU shall be adjusted as follows: <br />Effective 9-1-17 the base salary of all employees covered by this MOU shall be increased <br />by 2.25% <br />Employees whose classifications are deemed to be below the market average based on <br />the 2017 compensation study prepared by the consultant firm, shall receive up to 3% base <br />salary increase effective September 1, 2017 , above the 2.25% base salary increase <br />mentioned above. Such increase shall not exceed the amount necessary to bring the <br />classifications compensation to the market average. <br />4.4 Application of Basic Compensation Plan. The salary rate ranges contained in Section 4.2 <br />of this Article and the City's salary schedule as periodically updated and published by the <br />City are monthly salary rate ranges. All employees working in classifications of <br />employment covered by this MOU shall be compensated at a monthly rate, except that an <br />employee hired for temporary work in a position which has an anticipated duration of less <br />than six (6) months shall be paid at a rate per hour for actual time spent in the performance <br />of the duties of his or her employment. The regular rate of pay shall be computed as <br />provided for by the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). <br />W <br />25B-11 <br />
