Annual Review of Council Committees <br />December 5, 2017 <br />Page 2 <br />Legislative Affairs, Ethics, Transparency and Communications Committee <br />Public Safety, Code Enforcement and Neighborhood Empowerment Committee <br />At the November 21, 2017 City Council Meeting, members discussed implementation of a <br />new policy in which a Councilmember may serve on no more than two committees at a time. <br />Adoption of attached resolution will memorialize direction provided to staff by a majority of <br />the City Council. <br />Annually, the City Council reviews the list of current committee members and makes <br />adjustments as need. A list of current committee members is attached for review. <br />Confirmation of existing committee members or election of new committee members may be <br />considered at this time to ensure that each committee has 2 or 3 members. <br />Also, for scheduling and transparency purposes, staff recommends approval of the proposed <br />calendar containing all City Council and Council Committee meetings for the upcoming year <br />and that said calendar be posted on the City's website. A proposed schedule is attached for <br />consideration. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT <br />Approval of this item supports the City's efforts to meet Goal #5 Community Health, <br />Livability, Engagement & Sustainability, Objective #1 (Establish a comprehensive <br />community engagement initiative to expand access to information and create opportunities <br />for stakeholders to play an active role in discussing public policy and setting priorities). <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />Staffing costs associated with said item are included in the annual budget. <br />Maria Hwzar <br />Clerk of the Council <br />Exhibits: 1.
