ARTICLE IX <br />9.0 HOLIDAYS <br />9.1 Legal Holidays observed by full-time permanent and probationary employees of the City of <br />Santa Ana are as follows: <br />0 January 151- New Year's Day <br />o Third (3 �) Monday in January - In observance of Martin Luther King, Jr's Birthday <br />o Third (3d) Monday in February - In observance of Presidents' Day <br />o Last Monday in May - In comme_moration.of Memorial Day <br />o July 4'h - In observance of Independence Day <br />o First (I') Monday of September - In observance of Labor Day <br />o November 111 - In observance of Veteran's Day <br />o Fourth (0) Thursday in November - In observance of Thanksgiving.Day <br />o The Friday immediately following'Thanksgving Day" <br />o Last working day before Christmas Day, unless Christmas Day falls on Thursday, in <br />which instance, the day following Christmas Dayshall be observedin lieu thereof. <br />o December 25'h - In observance of Christmas Day <br />o One (1) Floating Holiday - Any workday selected by the employee with prior <br />permission of the employee's supervisor. <br />o Every dayproclaimed by the Mayor of the City as a holiday for City employees. Any <br />-holiday which falls on a Sunday will be observed on the following Monday. Any <br />holiday which falls on a Saturday will be observed on the .Friday preceding the <br />holiday. <br />-9.2 Full-time pernianent and probationary employees covered by this.MOU shall be entitled to <br />receive twelve (12) working days off, eight (8) hours per day, during the calendaryear in lieu <br />of the holiday benefits "specified in Section 9. 1, supra. Therefore, employees with alternative <br />work schedules shall be credited with 96 hours of Holiday Time at the beginning of every <br />calendar year in,lieu of twelve (12) holidays in the year. <br />19 <br />251-21 <br />
