• After fifteen (15) years, but less than 25 years of service, the <br />employee "shall be entitled to 66.66% of unused sick leave benefits <br />credited to his or her account upon the effective date of termination, <br />not to exceed a maximum limit of 1,067 hours. <br />After twenty-five (25) years of service, the employee shall be entitled <br />to 100% of the amount of unused;sick leave benefits credited to his or <br />her account upon the effective date of termination, not to exceed a <br />maximum limit of 1,600 hours. This amount represents <br />approximately 150% of the amount the employee would have been. <br />entitled to had they elected to cash out their sick leave hours. <br />b. Premiums will first be paid out of the lump sum amount contributed <br />by the employee and then out of the amount contributed by the City. <br />If the retired former employee dies before exhausting the full amount <br />of his .or her lump sum contribution, the unused portion of such <br />contribution shall be converted to cash as defined in Section 11. LK. 1. <br />above and distributed to the retiree's designated beneficiary. <br />11,:2 Bereavement Leave, An employee shall be granted up to three (3) days leave without loss of <br />pay in case ofdeath :of a.member of the employee's immediate family. For purposes of this <br />Section only, a "day" shall be defined as the number of hours of work that an.employee is <br />required to work according to his/her specific workday schedule. Such leave is designated as <br />bereavement leave. "Immediate;family" as used in this section is limited to: <br />A. Any relative by blood or marriage who Js,a member of the employee's household; <br />B. A parent, parent -in-law; spouse, child, brother, sister, grandparent or grandchild of <br />the employee, regardless of residence; <br />C. Any other relative of the employee by blood or marriage where it can be established <br />by the employee that as a result of such relative's death, the employee's presence is <br />required. <br />11.3 Military Leave. <br />A. Proof of Orders and Reinstatements. An employee shall be granted military leave if <br />he or she furnishes the Executive Director of Personnel Services satisfactory proof of <br />his or her order to report for duty. Upon return'and upon'showing of proof of actual <br />service pursuant to such orders, he or she will be reinstated as provided in Section 9- <br />143 of the Civil Service Rules and Regulations., of the City of Santa Ana. <br />29 <br />251-31 <br />
