ARTICLE VIII <br />8.0 HOLIDAYS <br />8.1 Employees covered by this MOU who work a regular forty (40) hour workweek schedule <br />shall be entitled to receive the following days off during the calendar year as paid <br />holidays: <br />• January 1 st - New Year's Day <br />• Third (3rd) Monday in January - In observance of Martin Luther King's <br />Birthday <br />Third (3rd) Monday in February - In memory of George Washington's <br />Birthday <br />• Last Monday in May - In commemoration of Memorial Day <br />• July 4th - In observance of Independence Day <br />• First (1st) Monday in September - In observance of Labor Day <br />• November 11th - In observance of Veteran's Day <br />• Fourth (4th) Thursday in November - In observance of Thanksgiving Day <br />• The Friday immediately following Thanksgiving Day <br />• Last working day before Christmas Day, unless Christmas Day falls on a <br />Thursday, in which instance, the day following Christmas Day shall be <br />observed in lieu thereof <br />• December 25th - In observance of Christmas Day <br />• One (I) Floating Holiday - Any workday selected by the employee with <br />prior permission of the employee's supervisor <br />e Every day proclaimed by the Mayor of the City as a holiday for City <br />employees <br />• Any holiday which falls on a Sunday will be observed on the following <br />Monday. Any holiday which falls on a Saturday will be observed on the <br />Friday preceding the holiday. <br />8.2 HolidM — Employees on Alternate Work Schedules. <br />A. Full-time employees whose regular scheduled days off are other than Saturday <br />and Sunday shall be entitled to receive twelve (12) working days off during the <br />year in lieu of the holiday benefits specified in Section 8.1 above. Holidays will <br />be credited based on the employee's working schedule. If the holiday falls on a <br />regular 9 hour day, then 9 holiday hours will be credited. If the holiday falls on <br />the 8 hour working Friday then 8 hours of holiday pay will be credited. <br />2dJ-21 <br />
