ARTICLE IV <br />4.0 ATTENDANCE, WORKDAY, WORKWEEK, & WORK SCHEDULE <br />4.1 Attendance. All full time SAMA employees covered by this MOU shall be in attendance <br />at their work during hours prescribed by the Executive Director or his designee(s) and <br />shall not absent themselves during prescribed hours without authorization. SAMA <br />employees shall not be required to submit Leave of Absence Requests for absences of <br />two (2) hours or less. <br />4.2 Hours of Work. Eight (8) hours of work shall constitute a normal day and forty (40) <br />hours of work shall constitute a minimum workweek, except for employees for whom <br />special regulations have been approved by the City Manager. <br />A. 4/10 Work Schedule. The Executive Director, with the approval of the City <br />Manager, may assign SAMA employees to a workweek consisting of four (4) ten <br />(10) hour day with an additional one-half (1/2) or one (1) hour for unpaid lunch <br />periods. The regular workweek shall consist of forty (40) hours. A regular day <br />off shall consist of ten (10) hours. <br />B. 9/80 Work Schedule. All SAMA employees shall be permitted to work a 9/80 <br />work schedule when authorized by the Executive Director and approved by the <br />City Manager. A SAMA employee will not be permitted to work this schedule if <br />in the discretion of the Executive Director and City Manager, the 9/80 work <br />schedule may reduce service to the public. <br />1. 9/80 Work Schedule Defined. The 9/80 work schedule shall be <br />defined as working eighty hours over nine days in a two-week period. An <br />employee shall work eight days for nine hours per day and one day for <br />eight hours, excluding a one-hour lunch break during each work shift, <br />totaling forty (40) working hours in each work week. <br />a. The Work Week Period. The forty (40) hour work week period <br />shall be defined as the work period starting from Friday at mid - <br />shift to Friday at mid -shift. No employee working the 9/80 work <br />schedule will be able to flex their Friday start time nor the time <br />they take their lunch break, which will occur in the middle of the <br />day on Fridays. <br />b. The 9/80 Work Period. The 9/80 two-week work period for <br />employees starts Friday mid -shift and continues for fourteen (14) <br />24J-8 <br />
