for an upgrade (Temporary Assignment) if the employee has not worked in <br />this specific upgrade assignment for a period of 18 consecutive months. The <br />employee shall only be considered to work in a higher classification if such <br />work is duly and specifically authorized by the employee's Executive <br />Director. <br />2. Special pay differentials, such as shift differential, bilingual pay, special <br />skill pay, etc., being paid to an employee prior to becoming eligible for <br />Temporary Upgrade Assignment Pay, will not be considered in computing <br />the amount of higher pay to which he or she is entitled in Subparagraph <br />5.5C above, unless the special circumstances upon which said additive is <br />based are also applicable to the Temporary Upgrade Assignment and the <br />employee otherwise meets the criteria established for such pay differential. <br />I Temporary Upgrade Assignments which entail moving an employee into a <br />classification represented by an employee unit other than that which <br />represents his or her permanent classification shall not include any change <br />in fringe benefits for the affected employee. <br />4. While working in a Temporary Upgrade Assignment, an employee will <br />continue to accrue, and have recorded, general, special or normal salary <br />step increases in the employee's permanent position; however, such salary <br />increases will be paid only to maintain the minimum five percent (5%) <br />differential above the salary to which an employee is entitled in his or her <br />permanent position. <br />5.6 Assignments — Discretion. All assignments of personnel to positions set forth in <br />Sections 5.1 through 5.5 above shall be made or revoked at the discretion of the <br />City Manager. <br />5.7 Reserved. <br />5.8 Career Development Incentives. Any full time SEIU bargaining unit member(s) <br />receiving career development incentive pay who moves into the SEN PT CS <br />bargaining unit during the term of this MOU will continue to receive development <br />incentive pay if that member(s) continue performing the job duties for which the <br />development incentive pay was originally given. <br />16 <br />25K-18 <br />
