12/5/17 LR <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2017-075 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SANTA ANA ACKNOWLEDGING ACCEPTANCE OF <br />THE AMERICAN LIBRARY ASSOCIATION'S READY TO <br />CODE GRANT AND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTIVE <br />DIRECTOR OF THE PARKS, RECREATION AND <br />COMMUNITY SERVICES DEPARTMENT TO EXECUTE <br />ANY PAPERWORK NECESSARY TO COMPLY WITH THE <br />GRANT <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby finds, determines <br />and declares as follows: <br />A. The American Library Association ("ALA"), sponsored by Google issued a <br />Notice of Funding Availability dated July 24, 2017 ("NOFA") under the Libraries <br />Ready to Code Program ("Program"). <br />B. The City of Santa Ana filed an application for the Program grant on August 31, <br />2017 focusing on providing children and young adults with computational thinking <br />and computer science training. <br />C. The ALA is authorized to approve funding allocations for the Program, subject <br />to the terms and conditions of the Agreement. <br />D. On October 17, 2017, the City received an award letter from the ALA <br />informing the City that the grant application was approved for $25,000. <br />E. On October 24, 2017, the City submitted an executed agreement to ALA for <br />the Program to be able to begin implementation and receive funding. <br />Section 2. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby acknowledges <br />receipt of the ALA Program grant. <br />Section 3. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby authorizes and <br />directs the Executive Director of the Parks, Recreation and Community Services <br />Agency to provide any and all other documents including any grant assurances or <br />certifications required or deemed necessary or appropriate to comply with the Program <br />grant from the ALA, all amendments thereto (collectively, the "Ready to Code Grant <br />Documents"), and any periodic reports required for compliance with the Program grant. <br />Section 4. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by the <br />City Council, and the Clerk of the Council shall attest to and certify the vote adopting <br />this Resolution. <br />Resolution 2017-075 <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />
