Monthly CIP Executive Report for December 2017 <br />January 16, 2018 <br />Page 2 <br />asset as a science and education center and a family-oriented recreational venue. Along with the <br />Discovery Science Center and Bowers Museum, the Santa Ana Zoo is part of a cultural hub which <br />helps support local economic development. The Master Plan will be presented to the Youth, <br />Education & Community Services Council Committee and the Recreation & Parks Board in January <br />2018, and to City Council for final adoption on February 20, 2018. <br />South Main Street Corridor Improvements <br />Preliminary design is underway to implement the "South Main Vision Plan." The South Main Vision <br />Plan will provide for greater walkability by implementing traffic calming mechanisms, enhanced <br />crosswalks, pedestrian level street lighting, street trees, landscaping, parkletts, site furnishings, and <br />metered parking. A kick-off meeting was held in September 2017; survey, geotechnical studies, utility <br />coordination, and traffic studies are currently underway. Contract documents are slated to be <br />completed and released for bid advertisement by the winter quarter of 2018/19. <br />Civic Center Bike Boulevard - Active Transportation Project (ATP): <br />The City applied for ATP funding for the design phase of this project to be considered by the <br />California Transportation Commission (CTC) in December 2017. Following the City's receipt of <br />required approvals, the project design phase will be initiated with the project goal to implement a <br />bicycle boulevard along Civic Center Drive from Broadway to Santiago Street. Improvements will <br />include applicable signage, striping, and signal improvements with protected left -turn signal phasing. <br />The purpose of the project is to encourage additional utilization, for all transportation users, with an <br />emphasis on enhancing bicyclists' and pedestrians' visibility and safety along the roadway segment. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT <br />This item supports the City's efforts to meet Goal #5 - Community Health, Livability, Engagement & <br />Sustainability, Objective #1 (establish a comprehensive community engagement initiative to expand <br />access to information and create opportunities for stakeholders to play an active role in discussing <br />public policy and setting priorities). <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />There is no fiscal impact associated with this item. <br />Fd ousavip ur J2__�� <br />Executive Director <br />Public Works Agency <br />FM/WEG/LO <br />Exhibit 1: CIP — Executive Summary Schedule <br />19C-2 <br />
