Through the
support of GameTime, matching Action Grant funding was provided to selected winners to assist
them with completing park projects designed to promote and serve as National Demonstration
Sites. This funding opportunity was ideal for projects that were partially funded, wished to apply
research -based practices, and/or hope to expand fully funded projects. Candidates from across
the state submitted applications and essays outlining their community's health and wellness
initiatives and specifically share how they planned to utilize the new play destination to help reach
their goals.
The City of Santa Ana, Parks, Recreation and Community Services Agency (PRCSA) applied to
CPRS and was selected. As an award, GameTime will subsidize the cost of the new equipment
by 50%, which will save the City approximately $21,000. PRCSA will replace outdated equipment
with new playground equipment at Chepa's Park. The installation of the equipment will be done
20A-1
