• Diane, expressed concern as to lack of parking places neighbor <br />currently have that will be worsened if project approved; allowing hotel <br />will impact safety of youth and need to increase open space in area. <br />• Ellen Diamond, expressed concern as to decision to sell lot without <br />providing an alternative; opined that City Council are not considering <br />objections of the residents. <br />• Max Rollens, noted project has not been thoroughly reviewed. <br />• Dave Elliott, expressed support for item; project will economically <br />enhance City, attract new businesses and create new jobs. <br />• PJ Jahangiri, opined most are in favor of the hotel project, but do not <br />want to lose subsidized parking; decision to sell lot was due to are <br />unsupervised and unmetered parking spaces. <br />• Tommy Mungia, opined hotel project will create many jobs and is a great <br />opportunity for the City of Santa Ana. <br />• John Coil, expressed support for hotel project. <br />• Raymond Telles, supports project - will improve area. <br />• Mr. Dresser, opposed to 2525 Main Street project, but opined that <br />Hampton Inn is a reasonable and appropriate use of land. <br />• Alex Tabrizi, opined hotel project will restrict access and reduce traffic. <br />• Carlos Castenada, expressed concern alley way will be closed, <br />emergency vehicle access will be restricted, and potential for for <br />homeless individuals. <br />• Kevin A. Coleman, noted project will provide access to emergency <br />vehicles and waste vehicles, will reduce traffic, and will benefit City with <br />economic development efforts. <br />There were no other speakers and the Hearing closed. <br />Council discussion ensued. <br />Councilmember Solorio, noted common complaints received by residents <br />are homeless and parking issues. Opined hotel does not operate at full <br />capacity, suggested city-wide parking study, and commitment needed to <br />add metered parking on Buffalo Street. <br />Councilmember Sarmiento, directed staff to provide history of lot; opined <br />that parking is a benefit to the community; expressed support for the <br />project. <br />Councilmember Villegas, expressed support for the project. <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 20 FEBUARY 20, 2018 <br />1 OA -20 <br />
