I must concur with Mr Tardi£
I strongly disagree with this attempt to force an unnecessary and rushed
June Special Election ballot vote to consider "by district" Ward elections.
Thus far there has been NO PUBLIC INPUT on the issue of putting this on the
ballot and according to Council Members Villegas & Martinez there are
several different ways to accomplish by -district elections.
Other cities have considered "by district" elections - but with SIGNIFICANT
public input before it goes on the ballot.
There is no reason that this issue could not have been brought up at any
time prior to this last minute and hush-hush rushed Council vote.
Especially after the June 2017 letter received from the SA Asian community
which brought the issue to the City's attention.
The actions of the 4 Council Members (Solorio, Tinajero,
<https://www.facebook.com/councilmandavidbenavides?fref=mentions> David
Benavides & Sarmiento) who are pushing this precipitous ballot vote, by
their actions, bring into question the ethics of their methods.
And certainly bring into consideration a grievous violation of the spirit,
if not the letter, of Santa Ana's Sunshine Ordinance.
Please allow for proper public input before putting this issue on the ballot
and vote NO on Agenda Item 65 A.
Irma Jauregui
