Lowell - Mills Act Application & Application to be added to Santa Ana Historic Register <br /> <br />Dear Mr. Soto, <br /> <br />I am responding to the notice I received in the mail about the Public Hearing on March 22 to <br />consider the application for the property at 919 N. Lowell Street to be granted a Mills Act <br />contract and to be placed on the Santa Ana Register of Historic Places. I am not able to attend <br />that meeting, but I want to express my views about this issue. <br /> <br />As a resident of Santa Ana and the neighborhood of Washington Square where this property is <br />located, I fully and heartily support granting these applications! <br /> <br />As a homeowner here my, and my neighbor's, property values are increased by the <br />preservation of other homes in my neighborhood...and so is our quality of life. It makes it an <br />attractive place to live and it attracts people who share these values of preserving the historic <br />character of neighborhoods in our City. <br />I feel strongly that we need to support preserving and maintaining the buildings in <br />Santa Ana, especially the homes, that have a historic character. Indeed, I think they <br />are a treasure for our City. In the 26 years that I have lived here, I have seen many <br />beautiful, historic homes and bulidings fall to the wrecking ball and I think that our City <br />is poorer because of it. <br /> <br />I have also watched, with some horror, as property owners have modified their homes and
