The following spoke on the <br />matter: <br />• Alex Mohammed, expressed concern as to pesticides left in the product, <br />testing facility entry requirements are not high enough, and current <br />testing facilities may not have the required licensing; encouraged <br />adoption. <br />• Scot Candell, opined lab tax rates are lower in other cities, lower taxes <br />attract lab facilities, and high upstart costs for lab facilities would make <br />it more difficult to open a facility. <br />• Jason Gallegos, noted that there is no manufacturing or cultivation in the <br />City and asked what would the lab facilities be testing; extended offer to <br />communicate with local business owners to address concerns. <br />• Taft with 420 Central, opined Measure BB was successful because it <br />went through a vetting process and lottery, asked what is the urgency in <br />bringing this matter forward, <br />• Claudio Gallegos, representing the office of Congressman Lou Correa, <br />expressed support for responsible business development of the <br />cannabis industry, and opportunity for the City a to be a leader on this <br />issue and bring revenue and jobs. <br />The Hearing closed. <br />Staff provided staff report. <br />Include PowerPoint presentation <br />Councilmember Solorio, asked if there will be a way to ensure quality testing <br />or will it be market driven.
